Martin Tolar, MD, PhD

Martin Tolar, MD, PhD
Dr. Tolar serves as the Founder, President & CEO of Alzheon. Prior to founding Alzheon in June 2013, Dr. Tolar held executive positions in several life sciences companies, where he has successfully established and grew new companies, business areas and product opportunities. Dr. Tolar served as President & CEO of Knome, Inc., where he led the development of human genome interpretation systems and services for academic, pharmaceutical and clinical clients, as President & CEO at NormOxys, Inc., where he built the business for novel cancer and cardiovascular therapeutics, and as Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Business Officer at CoMentis, Inc., where he developed the first clinical-stage beta secretase inhibitor platform for Alzheimer’s disease and negotiated a collaboration with a potential value of more than $1.1 billion with Astellas Pharma in 2008. Dr. Tolar held a variety of clinical development and business leadership positions at Pfizer, where he was instrumental in a wide range of business transactions, including the acquisition of Rinat Neuroscience for $500 million in 2006, and directed programs through all stages of clinical development and FDA approval including NDA filings.
During his academic career, Dr. Tolar served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Yale University School of Medicine, where he focused on movement disorders. Dr. Tolar trained in Neurology at the Boston Medical Center, received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience for his work on the role of apolipoprotein E in pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease, and published many scientific publications in the areas of neuroscience and neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Tolar received his M.D. from Charles University in Prague, where, as a medical student, he helped organize and lead the Velvet Revolution that toppled the communist regime in the former Czechoslovakia in November 1989.
In 2023, Dr. Tolar founded Tolion Health, Inc., to provide actionable, AI-powered brain health guidance with the objective of enhancing longevity, cognitive performance, and quality of life through science-backed interventions. The mission of Tolion extends beyond treatment to prevention and prediction of risk with the goal to transform the landscape of brain health by delivering targeted, individualized care and a future free from the burden of dementia. He serves as the Director of Tolion Board of Directors.
In 2021, Dr. Tolar founded the International Neurodegenerative Disorders Research Center, INDRC, a global institute applying artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions to identify and validate therapeutic interventions for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Tolar also serves on business and scientific boards including the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation, the Alzheimer Foundation, the CERGE-EI Foundation, and Advance Healthcare Management Institute.
In 2024, Dr. Tolar received the Eliška and Zdeněk Strmiska Award from the Alzheimer’s Foundation for significant contribution towards the research and treatment of Alzheimer´s disease and donated the cash prize to the INDRC institute. In 2021, Dr. Tolar received the Czech Laurels Award from the Czech Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his leadership in Alzheimer disease therapeutics, as well as clinical, scientific, and business projects in the Czech Republic. The Czech Chamber of Commerce is the largest and the most representative business association in the Czech Republic. Dr. Tolar was recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the world of drug development and manufacture by The Medicine Maker Magazine’s Power Lists for 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Dr. Tolar was recognized as one of the CEOs to Watch in 2025 by the Fortune magazine.

Mr. Ken Mace brings to Alzheon more than 20 years of senior finance and operations leadership in leading, building and advising biopharmaceutical companies; with extensive experience with developing business plans, financing strategies and financial modeling. Previously, Mr. Mace served as the Vice President of Finance, New Ventures at Flagship Pioneering, a venture capital firm that creates and grows first-in-category life science companies, where he supported 20+ new venture entities. Before Flagship Pioneering, Mr. Mace was Vice Director and Senior Project Manager, Group Planning and Special Projects, with F. Hoffman-La Roche Ltd., where he provided financial analysis in support of long-range business planning. Earlier, Mr. Mace was Vice President of Finance and Global Operations at mtm laboratories AG, an in-vitro diagnostics company. In this role, he was responsible for finance and sales operations and was the finance lead for the $230 million acquisition by Roche Diagnostics. Mr. Mace also held positions of increasing responsibility with life science companies ViaCell, Inc., Cytyc Corporation and Boston Scientific Corporation.
Mr. Mace earned his MBA from Babson College and BS in Accounting and Finance from Roger Williams University.

Mr. Adem Albayrak serves as Chief Data Officer at Alzheon and brings over a decade-long career in precision medicine and clinical research across industry and academia. Most recently, Mr. Albayrak was the Senior Vice President for Technology in Health Catalyst’s Life Sciences Business, tying together data, analytics, and product development to drive innovations through the use of real-world data towards retrospective studies, real-time monitoring of COVID-19 in collaboration with the FDA and other organizations, and identifying sites and patients to optimize clinical trial recruitment. Prior to Health Catalyst, he oversaw the genomics data pipeline at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute that enabled clinical research and translational medicine; supported researchers in bioinformatics and analytics projects; and led product management for the enterprise that included software for IRB-approved research data delivery, clinical trial matching, and real world data curation. Previously, Mr. Albayrak led product management at BIOBASE, where he launched a pharmacogenomics data product, which was acquired by Qiagen. Additionally, Mr. Albayrak spearheaded software product development at Knome, where he built and supported products in variant and gene pathway analysis.

Jaroslav Lískovec brings 15+ years of leadership experience. His backround is primarily entrepreneurship in the technology sector. He has also implemented strategic projects for the government of the Czech Republic such as the creation of the largest strategic industrial zone Triangle, the establishment of a new state-owned enterprise NAKIT focused on technologies for eGovernment and critical communication infrastructure of the state.
He also created the National Centre for Industry 4.0 and was an advisor to the Minister of Industry and Trade on technology, innovation and economic strategy. In the area of startups, he is responsible for the commercialisation and technology transfer of research at CTU – the oldest technical university in Europe – and is co-founder of CTU’s first employee spin-off TRIX Connections.

Petr Kadera brings over 15 years of experience in artificial intelligence for industrial applications. He leads a research group at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics at CTU in Prague, focusing on intelligent systems for industry and smart grids. His work encompasses developing industrial multi-agent systems, with extensive collaborations with companies such as Skoda-Auto, Rockwell Automation, and Airbus. He has also contributed to significant European projects like DIGICOR, aiming to enhance collaboration across manufacturing industries.
In the commercial sphere, Petr Kadera is a partner and CTO in several spin-offs and startups, where he drives the development of AI-based automation solutions. His leadership in these ventures showcases his dedication to applying cutting-edge research in real-world industrial scenarios. His academic contributions include over 50 publications, patents, and involvement in organizing international conferences on multi-agent systems.

Zdeněk Kodejš is a seasoned software architect with over 20 years of experience in software design, development, and architecture, with emphasis on cloud-based solutions. Throughout his career, he has contributed to a broad range of complex software projects spanning enterprise resource planning systems, mobile medical applications, and advanced cloud platforms for computer vision.
As a Software Architect at CertiCon, Zdeněk played a pivotal role in shaping the high-level architecture and technical design across several multidisciplinary software initiatives. He was responsible for translating functional requirements into robust, scalable architectures while ensuring compliance with performance and reliability standards in regulated industries.
Previously, as a Development Team Manager at Rockwell Automation, he led the recruitment and management of a skilled development team focused on building the company’s industrial Internet of Things cloud platform. His leadership extended from team formation and mentoring to overseeing the full development lifecycle of a cloud-native solution for industrial automation.
Zdeněk’s expertise lies in bridging the gap between technical vision and execution, enabling teams to deliver high-impact software products in demanding domains such as healthcare, manufacturing, and AI-powered systems.

Mr. Drahoňovský also served as Deputy Director at one of the largest research institutions in the country, overseeing economics, purchasing, facility management, maintenance, and the grant office. Earlier in his career, he joined Deloitte, focusing on economic, process, and analytical topics within the public administration sector, leading projects for the Ministry of Finance, municipal administrations, universities, hospitals, and research institutions.
He began his career in 2001, collaborating with a German consulting firm in the energy sector, where he led projects across Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Romania, addressing restructuring, strategic purchasing, controlling, and other areas.

Jan Zahálka is an artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) expert with over 15 years of experience turning cutting-edge research into real-world solutions. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Amsterdam and a master’s in AI (with honors) from the Czech Technical University in Prague.
Jan’s work bridges academia and industry. As a researcher, he has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and pioneered breakthroughs like lightning-fast interactive learning on 100 million+ image collections and an award-winning AI recommender that won the ACM Multimedia Grand Challenge 2014 award. He has been exploring interactive ML since 2013 and now integrates modern techniques like LLMs and foundational models into his work.
On the industry side, Jan has worked for organizations like Deloitte, ČEPS, and the Czech Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. His applied Ph.D. research was supported by leading Dutch institutions, including the Netherlands Police, Netherlands Forensic Institute, and EUVision (now Qualcomm Netherlands).

Gregory J. Moore, MD, PhD
Dr. Gregory J. Moore is a physician, engineer, and technology executive with nearly two decades of leadership at the intersection of healthcare, artificial intelligence, and cloud technology. He most recently served as Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Health & Life Sciences (2019–2023), where he led global R&D strategy, engineering, and product development, including oversight of the $19.7B Nuance integration. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Founder of Google Cloud Healthcare & Life Sciences (2016–2019), where he launched and scaled Google’s global health vertical.
He is currently a Senior Advisor at Gates Ventures, focusing on health and life sciences, particularly in Alzheimer’s disease, imaging, AI, and global health research. He also serves as an Associate Fellow at Stanford University’s Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging. Dr. Moore is on the boards of several organizations including DaVita, Cellarity, and Fortive, and has held academic appointments at Stanford, Penn State, and Wayne State University.

Dr. David Nikodem is a biotechnology executive and investor with over 20 years of experience in healthcare operations and finance. He is CEO of Metadeq Diagnostics, Inc., Managing Partner of Sapidus Partners, and previously served as interim and later permanent CEO of AltheaDx (2018–2022). He has also held senior leadership roles as Consulting VP of US Operations at Inventiva Pharma.
Earlier in his career, he was a senior representative of Ally Bridge Group, where he played a key role in biopharma investments and served on the boards of several U.S.-based biotech companies. Before moving into finance, Dr. Nikodem conducted molecular biology research at the National Institutes of Health and Georgetown University, where he earned his PhD. Jiří Dvořák, MD, PhD
Professor Jiří Dvořák is an internationally recognized neurologist and sports medicine expert. He is Professor Emeritus of Neurology at the University of Zurich and Senior Consultant in Neurology and Research at the Schulthess Clinic Spine Center in Zurich. Over his career, he has authored more than 460 scientific publications and several textbooks, contributing significantly to spine biomechanics, sports medicine, and concussion research.
From 1994 to 2016, he served as Chief Medical Officer at FIFA, overseeing the medical organization of six FIFA World Cups, five Women’s World Cups, and five Olympic Games. He co-founded the FIFA Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC) and has advised numerous global health organizations. His recent work focuses on prevention of non-communicable diseases and advancing brain health. Among his many honors, he received the ISSLS Lifetime Achievement Award (2025) for his pioneering contributions to spine and sports medicine.
